This page is for awareness and comparison, not a diagnosis. A clinical color vision exam uses controlled lighting, calibrated equipment, and a supervised protocol. Why try more than one screening tool
No single online task answers every color vision question. Trying a few tools can show where color tasks feel easy and where they feel harder.
Different questions
Plate tests ask whether you can see a figure. Arrangement tests ask how smoothly you order nearby hues. Matching and threshold tasks look at how wide a confusion range feels on one color axis.
Mild cases need context
A borderline Ishihara result can look normal one day and deficient the next. Channel scores, hue error spikes, or higher Cambridge thresholds can help you decide whether to retest or talk with an eye care professional.
Red-green and blue-yellow
Classic Ishihara screening focuses on red-green patterns. Cone isolation, Cambridge-style axes, and anomaloscope modes can also flag blue-yellow (tritan) difficulty that plates often miss.
Curiosity is not clearance
Lantern-style naming is useful if you wonder how signal lights look on screen. Aviation, maritime, and rail clearances still follow the pathway your regulator lists, not a browser profile alone.

Best conditions before you test
Screen colors shift with brightness, filters, and room light. Use the same setup each time if you want retakes on this profile to be comparable.
Max brightness, no color filters
Set brightness near 100%. Turn off Night Shift, True Tone, Eye Comfort, and any blue-light or color-correction apps. A dim or tinted screen can push borderline results either way.
Even light, face the screen
Sit in steady indoor light with the display straight in front of you at about arm's length. Avoid bright windows behind you and glare on the glass.
Skip tinted lenses
Remove sunglasses and tinted lenses before you start. Clear prescription glasses you normally wear are fine.
Same device when you compare
Phone, tablet, and laptop screens do not match. When you retake a test to compare with a saved result, use the same device and browser that stored the earlier run.
